John F. (Johnny) Mautz IV
R- District 37B, Caroline, Dorchester, Talbot, & Wicomico Counties
In the two years Johnny Mautz has been a member of the House of Delegates, he has been a solid backer of the merit shop construction industry. In the current legislative session, Mautz has supported small business interests by voting against the sick and safe leave bill and against two bills to expand prevailing wage to TIF projects and state lease projects.
Mautz serves on the Economic Matters Committee (banking, economic development, science & technology subcommittee, 2015-; public utilities subcommittee, 2015-; workers compensation subcommittee, 2015-). Since 215, has been the House Chair, Talbot County Delegation.
Mautz, a defender of the Eastern Shore and the economic
concerns faced there, campaigned on reforming regulations that hurt small
business in that region. From his 2014 campaign website:
“We need to inject common sense into our regulatory process. The multitude of
regulations in Maryland has helped make us one of the most unfriendly business
states in America. A classic example of how this affects the Eastern Shore is
that two of our strongest industries, seafood and agriculture, cite government
regulations as their greatest economic challenge.”
Mautz takes this same pro-active approach in defending small business interests statewide. He is also a strong supporter of vocational training in public schools, a core value of Associated Builders and Contractors.
