Senator Katherine Klausmeier, the Deputy Majority Leader, has sat on the influential Senate Finance Committee since taking office in 2003. She has been a key vote against numerous bills detrimental to merit shop construction and free enterprise, particularly those dealing with prevailing wage and scheduling.
Klausmeier has also been a proponent of bills aimed at moving business forward, including bills on apprenticeship training. For the last five years, she has served as chair of the Senate Joint Committee on Workers’ Compensation Benefit and Insurance Oversight. She has also served as chair of the Rules Committee since 2007. Klausmeier has also served on numerous task force related to workforce, continuing education, and small business. The Daily Record named her one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women in 2015.
