NCCER Releases 2015 Construction Craft Salary Survey Results

The average annual salary for numerous construction trades remains high, according to a survey by NCCER (formerly known as the National Center for Construction Education and Research). Salaries for 31 trades range from $47,166 for scaffold builders to $88,675 for project managers.

OSHA to Propose Construction Industry Specific Safety Guidelines

When OSHA releases its updated voluntary management guidelines for occupational safety and health in June, the agency will create a separate set of guidelines specific to the construction industry. This separate language was advocated by several industry organizations “because the industry has complex characteristics, including high employee turnover, many short-term or temporary jobs, and multiemployer worksites with many small businesses,” according to a report by Gloria Gonzalez in Business Insurance.|70|92|307|308

Construction Unemployment Rate Should Remain Low

The construction unemployment rate dropped to 8.7 percent in February, down from 10.6 percent in February 2015, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
