Electrical Apprentice
James Koontz began his electrical career with Douglas Electric and Lighting in Cockeysville, Maryland in July 2013. He will graduate from the apprenticeship program in May.
Why did you go into the electrical trade?
I got into the trade because I love to work with my hands. My love for learning how things work evolved into my field. I get to see how things are installed from beginning to end and it is gratifying to see your hard work in a job, especially when you drive pass it and know you did a good bit of the main lighting. It’s as if you’re a huge part of something large.
What do you like most about your work?
What I like most about my job is that I get to work and make money on a weekly basis and then make some extra cash on the side. The hours are good and the pay is definitely worth it!
