Delegate Nicholaus R. Kipke

Republican, District 31B, Anne Arundel County
House Minority Leader

A native of Baltimore, Del. Nic Kipke has served as House Minority Leader since 2013, championing small business interests. Since becoming a member of the House of Delegates in 2007, Kipke has also served on numerous committees which impact the construction industry and business climate, including as a member of the Legislative Policy Committee, the Spending Affordability Committee, and on the Joint Committee on the Selection of the State Treasurer.

Delegate Kipke has provided an open door policy for the business community to discuss important issues and positions on legislation impacting the construction industry. He voted against the “Rain Tax” over concern that the counties would pass along exorbitant fees. He was part of a group of pro-business legislators who actively and successfully worked to eliminate the storm water tax, which was finally repealed by Gov. Larry Hogan in May 2015.

Kipke’s interests run far and wide, and in his nine years in office, he has served a dozen other committees, subcommittees, and working groups in the House of Delegates and in Anne Arundel County, including those related to senior empowerment zones, substance abuse, new Americans, and health care reform.
