Founded in 2009 by military veterans, John Gilmore and Matt Timbario, PATRIOT (formerly known as PATRIOT Construction, LLC) has always stood for service and excellence. Gilmore and Timbario started the privately held company as a Small Disadvantaged Business and Service-Disabled Veteran Owned firm. Now, more than a decade later, PATRIOT delivers full-service facilities and infrastructure solutions, providing complete end-to-end life-cycle services, including planning, architectures, design engineering, construction, and operations and maintenance.
The company is headquartered in Dunkirk, Maryland, and is supported by three regional offices to execute innovative facilities and infrastructure solutions throughout the world. To date, PATRIOT has completed over 900 projects in more than 35 states, resulting in over $300 million in revenue. It delivers projects in its seven primary markets, including commercial, defense, healthcare, government, infrastructure, science and technology, and energy and power.
Recent notable projects include construction of the new Living Legacy Pavilion at the Living Legacy Forest, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; the $800 million design-build healthcare construction and renovation contract of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland; and construction of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, Maryland. PATRIOT Spaces, a division of PATRIOT, was formed in response to the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and was recently awarded the Associated General Contractors 2021 Innovation Award. PATRIOT Spaces developed rapidly deployable COVID-19 containerized treatment units, which resemble an individual hospital room with poly carbonate panels to allow for efficient sanitization.
For its commitment to excellence, PATRIOT has been ranked the #1 contractor, globally, by GovWin IQ (Deltek) in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) services.
“Our mission is to deliver full-service solutions in every aspect of project development including planning, designing, building as well as operating and maintaining facilities and infrastructure,” says Gilmore, PATRIOT’s managing member.
PATRIOT prides itself on promoting from within and has recently made several internal advancements. “We also provide opportunities for continuing education and training, along with a host of benefits including healthcare, a company sponsored 401K, Profit Sharing Plan and employee discount programs,” says Trixi Spiers, PATRIOT’s director of public relations.
PATRIOT also gives back to the community throughout the year. It was named the 2019 Community Partner of the Year by the Maryland Association of Social Services Board (MASSB) based on numerous contributions to Calvert Family Advocates (CFA). To date, PATRIOT has donated in excess of $400,000 to enhance the quality of life for many residents of the local community, including the donation of vehicles, shelter, home repairs/renovations, clothing, dental care, and sponsorship of children to attend extracurricular camps and programs.
