Q: How did you get started in construction?

I was working a dead-end job. A few of my friends were in the industry and talked me into applying. I did and I’ve never looked back. I was hired as an apprentice and after completing the program I went through the ranks of mechanic, foreman, superintendent and now project manager and estimator.

Q: What challenges did you have to overcome?

Personally, my biggest challenge was that I had to accept that I didn’t know everything and to be patient and pay attention to everything.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

I really enjoy looking at the completed projects and knowing that I had something to do with their construction. I also like the camaraderie I have with other employees and tradespeople.

Q: How has a career in construction impacted your life?

It has given me an opportunity to give my family a good living and future. It also has given me a second family within the industry.

Q: What advice do you have for others about the construction industry?

The more you put in the more you get out. Take advantage of every opportunity you get for any additional training that ABC has to offer.
