Department of Labor Proposes New Overtime Rules
The U.S. Department of Labor proposed new overtime rules on March 14 that would raise the threshold salary level for “white collar” exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The exemptions would increase from $23,660 a year ($455/week) to $35,308 a year ($679/week). The National Law Review reports the DOL also proposes to raise the annual compensation required to qualify for a “highly compensated employee” exemption from $100,000 to $147,414. Under the proposed rules, employers could use non-discretionary bonuses and incentive payments, such as productivity and profitability bonuses, and commissions, to satisfy up to 10 percent of the required salary level for white collar exemptions. Gilbane Awarded Ravens Walk Renovation
For Baltimore Ravens fans, tailgating in the Ravens Walk is the ultimate pre-game experience. But the team’s eponymous walkway that connects Oriole Park at Camden Yards to M&T Bank Stadium through the stadium parking lots B and C is in need of some serious TLC. And this spring, that’s what the walkway will get, to the tune of a $5.1 million renovation. To spearhead the sprucing up, the Maryland Stadium Authority (owner of the complex) chose the Gilbane Building Company, a global construction company with offices in Baltimore. Gilbane expects to complete the renovations by August of this year.
