Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) Charles McC. Mathias Lab Hensel Phelps

Hensel Phelps, a member of Associated Builders and Contractors, spent more than 3 years on this 94,000 square foot project, which included the renovation and expansion of the existing SERC Mathias Laboratory located in Edgewater, Maryland on a 9-acre, environmentally-sensitive site on the Chesapeake Bay.

Hensel Phelps’ scope of work, built in three phases, included the construction of a new laboratory; renovation of the existing laboratory; and demolition of several on-site buildings. Additionally, a 100-foot water tower was constructed on the property.
