On February 24th, the four ABC Maryland chapters hosted its annual ‘We Build Maryland’ Legislative Reception at the Maryland Inn in Annapolis. The goal of the event is for members and legislators to interact and discuss legislation effecting member companies.
Many legislators attended and discussed issues facing Maryland’s construction industry with industry leaders including:
Workforce development: There exists no bigger issue in the construction industry today than the lack of a skilled workforce; that’s why ABC trains more apprentices than any other organization in Maryland.
Safe workplaces: ABC provides safety training to thousands of construction employees every year. Because construction is one of the most dangerous industries in the country, ABC supports reasonable initiatives that protect workers, promote safety training and prevent drug and alcohol abuse.
Free enterprise: ABC believes the economy functions best and provides optimal opportunities when businesses and individuals are allowed to compete openly and fairly in the marketplace.
Equal opportunity for all: ABC believes that work opportunities should be available to all people regardless of race, color, age, sex, or national origin.
Senate President, Mike Miller (pictured above) updated members about the 2018 legislative session and thanked them for their support and involvement each year in Annapolis.
Thank you to the sponsor of the event, Tri County Pumps, and all who attended.
