Even though the pandemic has put a dent in indoor dining, ambiance is still a big part of the dining experience. That’s true of the restaurant space shared in Nottingham, Maryland by Wayward Smokehouse and The Curious Oyster. At Wayward Smokehouse, that means a warm, rustic lodge feel, with lighting playing an essential role in setting the mood. Popular seafood spot, The Curious Oyster, wanted a bright and lively seaside vibe.
ABC-member firm, CAM Electrical Services, Inc., helped both achieve their ambiance goals. In 2019, Baltimore-based commercial electrical contracting firm undertook the complete electrical renovation of what was previously an 8,000 sq. ft. Don Pablo’s restaurant, transforming it into the new dual-concept restaurant.
CAM Electrical Services provided electrical design for new interior lighting, exterior lighting, power systems and fire alarm. This highly complex project required extensive attention to detail to create a unique interior and exterior ambiance through lighting design.
The owners wanted to create a unique dining experience without breaking the bank. CAM assisted with designing and value engineering a complex lighting package to meet and achieve the owners’ goals, while staying on budget. The power requirements were just as difficult. CAM Electrical worked with several manufacturer representatives to design and provide power for their kitchen and bar equipment.
For its work on Wayward Smokehouse and The Curious Oyster, CAM Electrical Services won a 2020 Award of Excellence in the Electrical Construction Over $1 Million category from ABC Greater Baltimore.
